The wife of the Governor of Jigawa State, Hajiya Dr. Amina Umar Namadi, has congratulated Muslims in Jigawa State and across Nigeria on the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1448 After Hijrah (AH), urging the faithful to reflect on the lessons of the Hijrah and pray for lasting peace, unity and prosperity in the country.

In a goodwill message issued in Dutse on Tuesday, Dr. Namadi described the Islamic New Year as a significant occasion that offers Muslims an opportunity for spiritual renewal, self-reflection and recommitment to the values of faith, sacrifice, patience and perseverance exemplified by the migration of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from Makkah to Madinah.

She called on Muslims to use the occasion to strengthen their relationship with Allah, promote peaceful coexistence and extend support to the less privileged members of society. According to her, the teachings of Islam emphasise compassion, justice, honesty and mutual respect, virtues that are essential for building a harmonious and progressive society.

The governor’s wife also urged parents and community leaders to continue guiding the younger generation towards moral uprightness and responsible citizenship, stressing that the future of the nation depends largely on the values instilled in its youth.

She noted that the Islamic New Year should serve as a reminder of the need for unity and collective efforts in addressing societal challenges.

Dr. Namadi prayed for Allah’s guidance and blessings upon the people of Jigawa State and Nigeria as a whole, and expressed hope that the new Islamic year would usher in greater peace, security and economic prosperity.

She reaffirmed her commitment to initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of women, children and vulnerable groups in the state, while wishing the Muslim Ummah a peaceful and rewarding New Year celebration.
