Sokoto ADC chieftain Madugu defects to APC

A prominent Sokoto businessman and African Democratic Congress, ADC, chieftain, Murtala Madugu, has resigned from the party and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Madugu was formally received into the APC by the party leader in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, at his Asokoro residence in Abuja last week.

Speaking after his defection, Madugu said his decision was influenced by the developmental projects being executed by the administration of Governor Ahmad Aliyu in Sokoto State.

He said the initiatives had strengthened his conviction that the APC remained a platform through which he could contribute to the political and socio-economic development of the state.

Madugu also cited lack of focus and internal coordination within the leadership of the ADC in Sokoto State as another factor that informed his decision.

He pledged to work with the APC leadership and contribute to strengthening the party at the grassroots.

Receiving him, Senator Wamakko welcomed Madugu into the APC and assured him of equal treatment and opportunities within the party.

Wamakko said the APC would continue to promote programmes and policies aimed at advancing the development of Sokoto State and improving the well-being of its people.

He described Madugu’s decision to join the party as welcome and called on members to work together to strengthen unity within the APC.

Also present at the reception was the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mohammad Maigari Dingyadi, Katukan Sokoto.
