Residents of Tunga community in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State have appealed to the state government and other relevant authorities to urgently construct and rehabilitate the road linking the community from Gidan Gajiyayyu to the Bye-Pass Road.
The residents said the poor condition of the road had subjected them to serious hardship, particularly during the rainy season, when the route becomes muddy and difficult to access.
Speaking on the situation, some residents of the community expressed concern that motorists, commercial tricycle operators and pedestrians often struggle to navigate the road whenever rainfall occurs. They said the situation had affected the movement of people and goods and made access to essential services more difficult.
One of the residents, usman Mohammad , said the road becomes almost impassable after heavy rainfall, forcing residents to spend more time and money trying to move in and out of the community.
Another resident, Abdullahi yunusa appealed to the authorities to consider the plight of the people, saying the road had remained in a deplorable condition for a long time. He urged the government to provide proper drainage and construct the road to a standard that would withstand the rainy season.
The residents therefore called on the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Gwale Local Government Council and other relevant authorities to treat the matter as an emergency and commence work on the road to ease the suffering of the people.
They expressed confidence that prompt government intervention would improve transportation, boost economic activities and provide residents of Tunga with safer and easier access to other parts of the metropolis.
