The recent armed robbery-like incident which occurred recently in Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, was a testimony of a forthcoming bad omen.
An omen that foretells clear breeding of protracted security challenges crawling to envelope the city of Kano sooner or later, unless measures are taken. seriously.
The approach being taken to overwhelm the menace of phone snatching by security operatives if juxtaposed with how the criminality is past spreading disproportionately like a wildfire, an urgent stride is vehemently needed to confront the peril head-on, before it’s snowballed to a catastrophic dimension.
A situation in which we pray and hope not so.
It was amazing how the caravan of knives-concealing thugs (potentially armed robbers in making) gained accessed into the hospital, unopposed and dispossessed bedridden patients, hospital staff, their cell phones at a knives-point.
The thugs who were said to be close to more than forty in numbers unleashed their thievery tactics gruesomely, within a lengthy duration, but there wasn’t any intervention at the time when the heinous criminality was set loose.
The unfolding circumstances have clearly shown that even sick in-patients at this time have to be braced up to deal with double jeopardy – fighting for their lives and expecting the unexpected of night intruders.
Recent attacks on Murtala specialist hospital in Kano have sent jittery and apprehension which foretells that nowhere is safe and no one is free from falling a victim in tandem with the pervasive effects of the wide-spreading criminality of phone snatching at a knife-point which is becoming disproportionately synonymous with the city’s long earned reputation of trade capital of the north.
It is utterly disappointing that, this menace of armed thuggery and phone snatching in Kano has reached alarming dimensions
Many people have unpreparedly gone to their early graves courtesy of these gruesome killers.
Whereby none of the arrested culprits was heard, even for once prosecuted and passed a death sentence upon them serving as a deterrent to the upcoming culprits.
The trends which undoubtedly made the gale of thuggery and this brand new of crime blossomly flourishing in Kano.
Even though the security operatives are doing seemingly enough to stop the ravaging menace, the creeping situation is overwhelming.
Well, the contextual priority of this piece, is to remind the Kano populace to wake up from its slumber. Putting hands on deck with security operatives and relevant stakeholders to stop this new brand of criminality enveloping Kano.
Let’s not be delusional, folding arms will not augur well, shirts sleeves must be rolled up to confront this knife-wielding thuggery compounding in the city of Kano.
A sure-footed approach must be applied to tame this lawlessness in Kano.
This is a serious tailspin of law in Kano that should not be handle or treated with kid’s gloves.
No one is surely free from falling victim and nowhere is safe beyond the scope of this phone snatching intruders.
A stitch in time save nine.
