The Kano State Government says much emphasis was been accorded to the girl child’s education, to ensure that the girl child achieved a high level of education.
The permanent secretary of the ministry of education kano, Alhaji Bello Tukur disclosed this while celebrating the international day of the girl child organized by the state ministry of education in collaboration with the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project held at Rumfa College Kano.
He said the administration of Governor Abdullahi Umar ganduje has championed adolescent girl child education, stressing that the gesture was yielding positive results.
In a remark, the state project coordinator of adolescent girls initiative planning and empowerment Alhaji Ado Tafida Zango said the program aimed to encourage the girl child to compete with the counterpart globally.
“Our girls have the skills, they are brilliant and can study any profession, they can be engineers, that’s why we are encouraging them to study more and become future leaders “
He noted that the meeting would play a vital role in inculcating self-confidence in the girl child, geared toward achieving the set objectives.
Earlier the Chairperson Kano GEP program Hajiya Mairo Bello said the Girl child faces many challenges which needed to be addressed.
“Many girls face many challenges which include mental, health, and educational among others, therefore collaborative efforts needed to be implored in addressing the menace.
The meeting was attended by students of girls secondary schools in the state and other stakeholders.
