*Police, DSS assured of security cover
The Emir of Ringim, Alhaji Sayyadi Abubakar Mahmud has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for establishing a new University of Science and Technology, Babura, describing the action as a good omen for educational growth and development in Jigawa state.
Speaking in his Palace when he received the Vice Chancellor and other Principal Officers of the institution when they paid him a homage, said in particular, establishing the University in his domain was very apt and a good decision.
Alhaji Sayyadi Mahmud, while appreciating the government gesture, vowed to do everything humanly possible to ensure rapid growth and development of the University.
“We sincerely thanked the President for considering us to have this gigantic project in our domain. We really appreciate it and we shall treasure it wholeheartedly. On our part, we shall do all it takes to make the university grow and prosper,” said the Emir.
According to him, the people of Ringim have been peaceful and law abiding, and we shall extend our hands to make the University grow and achieve the desire objectives.
The Emir noted that education is the best legacy that any government can bestow on its citizens, therefore, the establishment of this university here will certainly help in making a prosperous society.

Earlier the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sabo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu told the Emir that, they were in the Palace to officially introduce the Management of the University as well as to seek for royal blessings for its smooth take up.
Professor Sabo while introducing the other Principal Officers of the new university, disclosed that arrangement have gone far in preparation for take up.
He announced that the university will start with two Faculties which are the Faculty of Engineering and Science respectively, explaining that expansion of programmes would be done in phases.
He solicited for support and cooperation of the monarch whom he described as a father to all, saying University could only thrive if all stakeholders could participate actively in its development.
Also, the team were in the headquarters of the Jigawa state Police Command where they paid a visit to the Police Commissioner, requesting for a special security surveillance for the new institution.
The Vice Chancellor noted that security is paramount in the development of the institution, particularly in view of the growing threat to the activities of banditry and kidnapping as well as other social vices.
Professor Sabo, said the visit becomes imperative in order to establish a good and harmonious relationship between the university and the Police Command.
The Police Commissioner, Alhaji Aliyu Saleh Tafida in his response, thanked the Vice Chancellor and his team for the visit and assured that the Police Command will do it best to provide a security cover for the new institution.
He said “be assured that our men and officers will give maximum support and cooperation for a smooth operation of the university.”
Also the team had visited the State headquarters of the Directorate of Security Services (DSS), soliciting for a mutual support and cooperation.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of FUT,Babura noted that without peace, there could be no development, hence the desire to establish a good working relationship with the security outfits in the state.
In his response, the director of State Service, Dr. Nuhu Umar, said although Jigawa State is a peaceful state, however, they will not relax in the effort at ensuring that the University remains peaceful all through.
The state Director noted that without peace nothing tangible could be achieved and therefore, they will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that the university operated in a peaceful atmosphere.
The Vice Chancellor Professor Sabo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, was accompanied during the visits by the Registrar of the University and Secretary of the Governing Council, Hajiya Fatima Binta Mohammed, the Bursar, Alhaji Ibrahim Alhassan and the University Librarian Alhaji Abashe Abbas.
