Insecurity: Kaduna Commissioner urges citizens to report criminal activities Peace.

The Kaduna State Commissioner Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs Mr, Samuel Aruwan has advised its citizens to report suspicious criminal activities to security agencies.

Aruwan, who made the call during a training for civilians and security stakeholders in Kaduna on Tuesday, said that such action would help to build peace in the state.

The training tagged; Securing Nigeria Community is organised by CLEEN Foundation in partnership with Equal Access International.

According to him, the government is trying its best to ensure peace and security in the state and that people should support by giving security operatives the right information for rapid response.

“We are in challenging times; our security operatives cannot be in all the nooks and crannies of the state, that is why the community must complement the effort of security agencies.

“We can prevent conflict or other security challenge if we work together, communicate and interact with one another. The Kaduna state government is open for any engagement that will bring about peace”, he said.

Earlier, Mr Maji Peters, Country Director, Equal Access International said that securing Nigeria community project would serve as platform where community members and security personnel interact on issues relating to peace.

Peters said that the project was aimed at working with security stakeholders by forming a community accountability forum where there would be synergy between operatives and the public.

He said that community members had an important role to play in peace building by taking proactive measures through information sharing with security agencies on any threat in its area.

Also, Mr Ebere Mbaegbu, Programme Officer, CLEEN Foundation said that the purpose of the project was to secure Nigerian communities by preventing violent conflict through strengthening Early Warning Early Response (EWER) mechanisms.

Mbaegbu noted that participants would be trained for three days on EWER, strategic communication and everything needed to help promote peace and security in their community.

According to him, a community accountability forum will be established at the end of the training which will include women , youths, Persons Living With Disability and security personnel.

However, some participants expressed satisfaction over the project, saying it was timely and would go a long way to promote peace and security in the state.
Imam Shafiu Hassan, a religious leaders from Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA) promised to be an ambassador of peace in the area and that the communities would embrace peace.

Also, Mr Titus Dauda, the District Head, Kufana, Kajuru local government area, said that the training would give them understanding on how to prevent conflict, especially liasing with security agencies to see that peace and security of lives and properties was achieved.

The Workshop was attending by security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders,women group, youths and civil society organisation were present at the event.
