In what looked like a wake-up call, the PDP youths across the nation launches PDP New Generation at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Center, Abuja, an initiative to sensitize Nigerians.
In attendance at the occasion were: His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (GCON), the party’s presidential flag bearer and his running mate, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the party chairman senator Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, Boni Haruna, Liyel Imoke, the former governor of Cross River State, the Taraba State Governor as well as many serving and former senators and National Assembly members and other party bigwigs.
The PDP presidential candidate, in his speech at the occasion thanked the youths for their initiative and enjoined them to stand out and build bridge of unity in order to unify the country. He emphasized the need for a government that will empower the youth and women in order to tap from their potentials for nation-building. He promised that if given the opportunity to rule the country, he will support a constitutional review that will promote citizenship. And just as he said at the mega rally for Osun gubernatorial election, he charged the youths to get their PVCs and be ready to vote and defend their votes.
On his part, the party chairman while commending the youths for their initiative also asked them to work with the Wazirin Adamawa whom he said had invested his personal resources in education for the youth at all levels and has been part of those that designed good educational policies for the country in the past.
The keynote speaker at the occasion Emana Ambrose-Amawhe, the running mate of the PDP gubernatorial candidate for 2023 election, thanked the former vice-president for being a beacon of hope for the people, acknowledging that they identify with Atiku Abubakar because of his pedigree, the contents of his policy documents and the need for policy of inclusion needed for harmonious existence in the polity.
The organizers of the program explained that they launched the first phase of the program on April 24, 2022. This particular event is the second and the theme is: Reset Nigeria which is an acronym for, Reunification, Economy, Security, Education and True-Federalism. They promised to actively engage and sensitize Nigerians in the area of civic responsibility, capacity-building and advocacy.
