Sensing imminent defeat of Kaduna State in the forthcoming 2023 Governorship election, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in collaboration with the party’s chieftains close to President Muhammadu Buhari is making frantic moves to pacify, Alhaji Sani Mahmud Shaaban, one of the notable politician who took the party to court over non compliance with INEC provisions during the conduct of 2023 primaries in the state.
Reliable source who craved anonymity, confided to us that the moves is being spearheaded by allies with alleged support of the president who were not comfortable with the manner in which Governor Nasir El-Rufai and the party’s governorship candidate, Uba Sani is running the affairs of the party.
“We are really miffed at the manner Shaaban was treated by the party he laboured to build. Shaaban is among the first that laid the foundation upon which APC is built. He is a prominent ally of President Buhari. He has never been opposed to the ideals of the president. These and many more qualities he possess, but look at the way some opportunists through jump from the window, reaping what didn’t sow, turn our great party in Kaduna.”
Our source added that, even though there is a case before the court, the time for the election is past approaching, the elders of the party is mulling over multiple options to avoid what happened in Zamfara to befall APC in Kaduna State.
When contacted, Shaaban, who holds the title of Dan Buran Zazzau and Barden Keffi said since the case is before the court, he would not comment, but that he is a committed member of APC and he will continue to assist the party in every way possible.
Efforts to reach the party’s governorship candidate, Uba Sani, proved abortive as all his phones are not going through and text messages sent to him have not been replied.
Sani Shaaban instituted a legal action against the state’s chapter of the APC over non compliance with the INEC statutory laws guiding the conduct of the party’s 2023 primaries in Kaduna State.
He opined that APC has not conducted any primaries in all the elective positions and that some people concocted the results and this may spell doom for the party in the state.
