The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano Stateis facing an intense internal crisis, and leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has refused to comment on the issue.
This comes after the state chairman, Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa, announced the suspension of Secretary to the Government Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi and Commissioner for Transport Muhammad Diggol.
Interestingly, a reconciliatory meeting had been held before the suspension, where Bichi and Diggol reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
However, the suspension still took many party members by surprise.
Kwankwaso’s silence on the matter is notable, especially since he’s the party’s national leader and a former presidential candidate.
When asked about the crisis, he declined to comment, saying, “I don’t want to talk, please. Don’t drag me into what I am not supposed to be dragged into.
The chairman of the party has spoken and has been speaking, reach out to him” ².
Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf has traveled out of the state capital, and efforts are being made to get his reaction to the crisis .
The situation is complex, with various factions and interests at play.
The NNPP crisis in Kano State continues to unfold, with many questions still unanswered.
