The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast a three-day period of sunshine and haziness across the country, starting from Saturday through Monday.
According to NiMet’s weather outlook, sunny skies with hazy conditions are expected over the northern regions throughout the forecast period. The North Central regions will experience hazy skies with patches of clouds.
In the southern region, a hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds is expected in the morning, with localized showers and thunderstorms anticipated later in the day. Cities such as Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom will be affected.
On Sunday, slight dust haze is expected over the northern states, accompanied by hazy skies with patches of clouds across the North Central regions. Localized thunderstorms are anticipated in parts of Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Delta, Rivers, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa.
On Monday, moderate dust haze is forecast across the northern regions, with sunny conditions interspersed with patches of cloud in North Central cities. Localized thunderstorms are expected in parts of Niger, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, and Kogi.
NiMet advised people with asthmatic conditions and other respiratory issues to be cautious of the current weather conditions. The agency also warned of strong winds preceding thunderstorms in affected areas and encouraged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective planning.
