Admin 3 weeks ago

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Sector Command, has commenced a sensitisation campaign targeting drivers and transport unions to promote road safety ahead of the forthcoming Sallah celebrations.

The campaign forms part of a nationwide public enlightenment initiative directed by the FRSC Headquarters to ensure safer roads during the festive period.

The Kano Sector Commander, Idris Mohammed-Lawal, said the exercise was aimed at creating awareness on road safety, promoting responsible driving behaviour, and ensuring a crash-free Sallah celebration across the state.

He explained that the campaign aligns with the corps’ 2026 strategic goal of Renewed Commitment, Professionalism and Improved Service Delivery introduced by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed.

According to him, officials of the command visited the Kano Line Motor Park along the Kano–Zaria Road where they engaged members of transport unions, drivers and passengers on the importance of obeying traffic rules.

Mohammed-Lawal urged drivers to avoid overloading, shun speeding and reckless driving, and strictly comply with traffic regulations to prevent road crashes during the festive period.

He noted that adherence to safety guidelines by motorists and passengers would go a long way in ensuring a safe and hitch-free Sallah celebration.

Speaking on behalf of transport unions, drivers and passengers, Auwal Kano-Line, an official of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), commended the FRSC for the sensitisation exercise.

He assured that members of the union would cooperate with the corps and adhere to traffic regulations to guarantee a crash-free Sallah celebration.
