54th AGM: lCAN elects new District Officers in Kano

Kano & District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, at its 54th Annual General Meeting, AGM, has elected its new District Officers.

The newly-elected Executive Committee Members, who would pilot the affairs of the District for one year, under the leadership of the new chairman Jamilu Abdullahi Daihur, ACA, held on Saturday 16th May, 2025 at ICAN Centre, Murtala Muhammad Library Complex, Ahmadu Bello Way in Kano state.

1. Chairman – Jamilu Abdullahi Daihur
2. Vice Chairman – Tijjani Ahmad Habibu
3. Deputy Vice Chairman –Kabiru Auwal Sallau
4. General Secretary – Najib Muhammad Lawan
5. Treasurer – Ahmad Mahmoud Umar
6. Financial Secretary – Hauwa Lawal Danjaki
7. Technical Secretary – Mubarak Tijjani Umar
8. Social/ Publicity Secretary – Fatima Dauda Bashir
9. Membership Secretary – Sulaiman Lawan Waziri
10. Assistant General Secretary – Semirat Bisola Ajide
11. SWAN Representative – Aisha Ibrahim Audu
12. Immediate Past Chairman – Hadiza Gambo
13. Ex-Officio I – Saidu Musa Bala
14. Ex-Officio II – Habibu Ayuba

Delivering his acceptance speech, the newly-elected Chairman, Daihur said he would work within his ability and in conformity with the provisions of the ICAN Act and District Societies Byelaw.

According to him, he has been in the Executive Committee for the past six years and contributed in critical decisions making, expressing commitment to continue with the good jobs started by his predecessors.

“I have accepted your election to be your chairman for the period of one year and do everything possible within my ability and in conformity with the provisions of the ICAN Act and District Societies Byelaw.

” My one year in office will be a memorable one that will bring positive impact to the members, the District and also the Institute in general, my administration will be an “all inclusive” administration where every member is important and relevant to be carried along and move the District forward,” he said.
