Jigawa Sets Up Committee to Review Dutse Master Plan 2050

The Jigawa State Executive Council has constituted a high-level committee to review the Dutse Master Plan 2050 as part of efforts to strengthen urban development and guide the state’s long-term planning agenda.

The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting held in Dutse.

 

Musa said the decision followed a presentation by Ahmadu Bello University Consultancy Services Limited (ABUCOS) on the proposed review of the Dutse Master Plan 2050.

According to him, the committee will be chaired by the Commissioner for Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning, Alhaji Ahmed Kaugama.

He said the committee also includes four members of the State Executive Council who had previously served as commissioners for lands in the state.

The members are the Commissioner for Commerce, Alhaji Aminu Kanta; Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa; Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Alhassan Muhammed; and Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Nura Ibrahim.

Musa said the council mandated the committee to undertake a comprehensive review of all submissions and recommendations relating to the master plan to ensure that the final document aligns with the aspirations of government, stakeholders and residents.

He added that the committee would engage relevant professional bodies, community representatives and other stakeholders as part of its assignment.

The commissioner noted that public hearings would be conducted where necessary to provide an inclusive platform for residents and stakeholders to make contributions and offer feedback on the proposed plan.

According to him, the committee has been given four weeks to submit its report and recommendations to the State Executive Council.

He said the initiative was expected to strengthen long-term urban planning efforts in Dutse and neighbouring communities while promoting transparency, inclusiveness and stakeholder participation in the development process.

Musa reiterated the state government’s commitment to sustainable urban development and the provision of infrastructure capable of meeting the needs of the state’s growing population.
