Open Letter to Kano State Governor

*THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF KANO STATE*

*Subject: Appreciation and Urgent Appeal for Technology-Driven Security Intervention in Tsanyawa, Shanono, Bichi, Gwarzo, Karaye and Rogo Local Government Areas*

Sir,

With profound respect, I begin by sincerely commending Your Excellency for the tireless efforts and commitment you have demonstrated in addressing the security challenges confronting Kano State since the emergence of banditry. Sincerely speaking, you have tried, and you are still trying. May Almighty Allah continue to strengthen you.

Your Excellency, I respectfully bring to your attention the escalating security situation in *Tsanyawa, Shanono, Bichi, Gwarzo, Karaye and Rogo Local Government Areas*. The situation in *Tsanyawa Local Government Area* is most critical. Over 80% of its villages share boundaries with Katsina State and are now in great danger. Farmers can no longer access their farmlands due to persistent bandit activities. These communities are highly vulnerable and their only means of livelihood is farming, which has now been disrupted.

Your Excellency, with due respect, we must take this issue with utmost responsibility and urgency. Experience from our neighboring states has shown that when this challenge started slowly and was not confronted decisively early enough, it eventually escalated. We cannot afford the same pattern in Kano State.

In view of the above, I humbly recommend the following strategic measures for urgent consideration:

*1. Deployment of Advanced Surveillance Technology*
Procure and deploy sophisticated gadgets including drones, night vision equipment, searchlights, and motion sensors along the Kano-Katsina border. This will enable security agencies to monitor bandit movements and apprehend them before they get close to attack our communities.

*2. Immediate Joint Security Operations*
Intensify ground operations with the Nigerian Army, Police, Civil Defense, and local vigilantes, supported by real-time intelligence from the technology above.

*3. Establishment of Forward Operating Bases*
Establish forward operating bases in Tsanyawa and other flashpoints to ensure rapid response and sustained 24-hour presence in the affected areas.

*4. Empowerment of Community Intelligence Structures*
Equip traditional rulers, ward heads, and vigilante groups with communication gadgets, logistics, and incentives to strengthen early warning and community policing.

*5. Protection of Farming Activities and Humanitarian Support*
Provide security escorts for farmers and emergency support to affected families to prevent food insecurity and mass displacement in the coming farming season.

*6. Inter-State and Federal Collaboration*
Strengthen joint security operations with Katsina State Government and Federal Security Agencies to block escape routes and dismantle bandit networks.

Your Excellency, with decisive action and the right technology deployed now, we can restore peace, protect our food basket, and return hope to our people. We have full confidence in your leadership and commitment to the safety and welfare of Kano citizens.

May Almighty Allah grant you wisdom, courage, and success as you continue to serve our dear state. Amin.
