Young Woman Cuts Boyfriend’s Genitals at Hotel in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old woman who allegedly cut off her boyfriend’s genitals while he was asleep at a hotel in the Badawa area of Kano metropolis.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, told BBC Hausa that the incident occurred at about midnight on Monday, after the police received a report about the incident. Both lovers are reportedly indigenes of Jigawa State.

According to Kiyawa, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect came from Maigatari with a knife, which she allegedly used to commit the act.

He said the suspect told security officials that she carried out the act while her boyfriend was asleep after taking headache medication, which caused him to fall into a deep sleep.

“After committing the act, she dragged him into the bathroom to wash off the blood before people realised that something was happening and alerted security personnel,” Kiyawa said.

Regarding reports that a substance or intoxicating drug might have been used, the police spokesperson said there was currently no evidence to confirm the claim.

He said police officers found a bottle of Lacasera soft drink and water in the room, adding that investigations were ongoing to determine whether they had any connection with the incident.

CSP Kiyawa also confirmed that the man is alive and receiving treatment at a hospital.

He said the command had never encountered a case of this nature before, in which a person’s genitals were completely severed.

The suspect is currently in police custody while investigations continue before she is arraigned before a court.
