The Federal Government will earmark N35 billion for the construction of Zaria Airport within the premises of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Abbas Tajudeen, disclosed this on Sunday during the groundbreaking ceremony of road projects in Zaria.
Tajudeen said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was committed to establishing the airport to reduce pressure on the airports in Abuja and Kaduna.
He said the completion of the airport would ease air transportation and improve connectivity across the northern part of the country.
Speaking on the road projects in Zaria Local Government Area, the Speaker said about 51 road networks had been designed, with some already completed while others would commence soon.
Tajudeen urged communities and traditional elders to protect developmental projects executed in their areas, stressing the need for collective ownership.
He also called on residents to report any substandard or poorly executed projects to the appropriate authorities to ensure that quality standards were maintained.
