The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested two suspected car thieves and a suspected vandal during separate operations in the state.
The NSCDC State Commandant, Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama II, disclosed this in a press statement, saying the two suspected car thieves, identified as Abdullahi Sani, 61, and Abdullahi Suleiman, 63, were arrested during a routine patrol at Ladanai Junction, along the Eastern Bypass, Kano.
A suspected stolen red Toyota Carina II Wagon, with registration number LFA 417 AA (Nassarawa), was recovered from the suspects. According to the Commandant, the suspects were intercepted while allegedly driving the vehicle out of the Ladanai area at about 2 a.m. The vehicle was reportedly stolen three days earlier.
Agalama also disclosed the arrest of a 45-year-old staff member of Triumph Nigeria Ltd., identified as Suleiman Shehu, in connection with the alleged vandalism of an armoured cable belonging to the company at Bompai, Nassarawa Local Government Area. He said the suspect was apprehended by NSCDC operatives after allegedly vandalising the cable.
The Commandant said all three suspects remained in custody and were undergoing preliminary investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.
He added that those found culpable would be prosecuted after the completion of investigations. Agalama commended the operatives for their vigilance and urged residents to remain alert and provide security agencies with credible information on suspicious activities.
