The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has commissioned the newly constructed Fagwalawa Police Division in Dambatta Local Government Area of the state.

Bakori commissioned the division on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen security and community policing in the area.

The division was constructed by members of the Fagwalawa community in support of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Commissioner commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for approving the establishment of the division, saying the decision was necessitated by population dynamics and the need to reinforce security along the Kano-Jigawa border.

Bakori charged officers posted to the new division to reciprocate the community’s gesture by providing selfless and quality policing services to residents.

The Executive Chairman of Dambatta Local Government Area, represented by his Vice Chairman, and the District Head of Dambatta, represented at the occasion, expressed appreciation to the IGP for approving the division and pledged continued support for the Police.

The commissioning ceremony attracted community leaders, traditional rulers, academics, philanthropists, women and youth groups, students, farmers, businessmen, representatives of other security agencies and other stakeholders.

At the event, the Fagwalawa community handed over a Sharon patrol vehicle to the newly commissioned division.

In a related development, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isa Mani, received two Hilux patrol vehicles on behalf of the Commissioner at the Metro Area Command Headquarters, Bank Road, Kano.

One of the vehicles was donated to the Metro Area Command by the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Metro Area Command, Alhaji Ahmad Sufi, while the other, attached to Kwana Hudu Division, was refurbished by Hon. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi.

DCP Mani commended the stakeholders for their support and urged police officers to redouble their efforts in protecting lives and property.

The Command said the initiatives were in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police on sustained community policing engagements and building public trust and confidence.
