MUHYI URGES COMMUNITY SUPPORT TO BUILD DRUG-FREE KANO

Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, Chairman of the Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, has called for stronger community participation in efforts to tackle drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the state.

Rimingado made the call while speaking at the Kano Network of NGOs (KANET) Monthly Lecture Series, where he was the guest speaker on the theme, “Building a Drug-Free Kano: Challenges, the Way Forward and the Role of the Community.”

The lecture brought together representatives of various civil society organisations to discuss the challenges posed by drug abuse and possible strategies for addressing the menace in Kano.

Rimingado emphasised the importance of collective action involving government agencies, civil society organisations and communities in preventing drug abuse and supporting efforts to curb illicit drug trafficking.

Participants at the session engaged in discussions on the issue and committed to moving from dialogue to concrete action in support of the task force’s efforts to address drug abuse in the state.

KANET expressed appreciation to Rimingado for sharing his knowledge and insights with participants and commended the civil society organisations for their active engagement during the session.

The network also acknowledged the AMG Foundation for its continued support to KANET and its activities.
