The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria–D7G (DICON–D7G) has announced the successful assembly of nearly 1,000 units of its newly upgraded DG-103 rifle within the first two months of production in Kaduna.
The Chief Executive Officer, Osman Chennar, disclosed this during a media briefing at the company’s Abuja headquarters.
He said the rifles, an enhanced version of the AK-103, have undergone full testing and certification and meet the operational standards of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies.
Chennar also revealed that the company is producing drones and anti-drone systems equipped with early-warning capabilities to support military operations.
“With full operations now underway, our target is to achieve an annual production capacity of sixty million rounds of ammunition,” he said.
Representing the CEO, retired Major General M. A. Masanawa announced plans to acquire a military jetty in Lagos by February 2026. The facility will host a production line, warehouses, and staff accommodation.
He said the expansion will boost local defence production and create opportunities for exporting equipment to neighbouring African countries. Plans are also in place to establish a shipyard at the jetty for servicing and maintaining naval vessels.
DICON–D7G, a central player in Nigeria’s renewed drive for defence industrialization, said the milestones achieved so far mark the beginning of broader efforts to reduce foreign dependence and improve national security readiness.
