The Nigeria Police Force, Zone One Headquarters in Kano, has advised residents, particularly Muslim faithful, to remain vigilant and security conscious during the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan when many worshippers observe late-night prayers.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the zone, AIG Garba Ahmed, gave the advice in a security advisory issued to the public as part of measures to ensure the safety of residents throughout the period.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the zone, DSP Abdullahi Hussaini, the Police encouraged Muslims to continue observing their religious obligations peacefully while remaining alert to their surroundings.
The command noted that criminal elements sometimes attempt to take advantage of late hours during the period to perpetrate various forms of crime, particularly when worshippers travel to and from mosques at night.
It therefore urged residents and worshippers to avoid isolated routes, take necessary precautions to safeguard their personal belongings, and promptly report any suspicious movement or activity to the nearest police station.
The police further stressed the importance of community cooperation in maintaining law and order, noting that public support remains crucial in the fight against crime.
The Zone One Police Headquarters assured residents of its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the zone during the Ramadan period and beyond, while calling on members of the public to continue collaborating with security agencies to sustain peace and stability.
