The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a landlord, Akong Henry, over the alleged violent assault of a 31-year-old female tenant, Rachael, in an incident that left the victim hospitalised with serious injuries.
The incident occurred along Hospital Road, where a disagreement between the tenant and her landlord reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation.
According to police sources, the suspect allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp object during the altercation, inflicting severe injuries to her head and left arm, resulting in heavy blood loss.
Operatives of the Command were said to have responded promptly after receiving a distress report, rescuing the injured woman and ensuring she was taken to a medical facility, where she is currently receiving treatment.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, stated that the suspect has been taken into custody and that investigations are ongoing.
She assured that the Command remains committed to ensuring justice is served, while condemning the act of violence in strong terms.
The Police Command also cautioned residents against resorting to violence in resolving disputes, urging members of the public to seek lawful and peaceful means of addressing conflicts and to promptly report such incidents to relevant authorities.
