In a unanimous move, the All Progressive Congress, APC, stakeholders from Bagwai and Shanono Local Governments, have endorsed Alhaji Farouk Lawan as their sole candidate for the House of Representatives and Hon. Ali Kiyawa for the State House of Assembly, a source disclosed.
According to the source who attended the meeting, Leaders and Youths together with Women groups, recalled with nostalgia the days of Lawan at the National Assembly which brought strong representation to them. They said it was their reason for adopting Farouk Lawan as their candidate for the 2027 general elections.
They endorsed Faruk Lawan shortly after meeting with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in a stakeholders’ engagement that had the following in attendance – the Chairman Bagwai Local Government, Engr Bello Gadanya, Chairman Shanono Local Government, Alhaji Abubakar Barau Shanono and other Elders including Alhaji Sani Gadanya, former Commissioner under the Abubakar Rimi Administration, Salisu Garba Bagwai, former Chairman Bagwai Local Government, Comrade Ahmed Kadamu former Chairman Shanono Local Government and Alhaji Inuwa Zangina Dangada former Chairman Bagwai Local Government, said Alhaji Farouk Lawan was their unanimous choice.
Others who endorsed Farouk Lawan on behalf of their Youths, Women group the entire electorates of their areas included Alhaji Mustapha Shatan Shanono, Alhaji Ali Ado a former state Commissioner,
and Alhaji Haruna Abbas, a prominent APC leader.
In the same vein, the elected and Supervisory Councillors also endorsed Farouk Lawan’s bid to return to the National Assembly, as the best thing that would happen to them and their families.
Speaking at the Government House after meeting with Governor Yusuf, the elders, explained their reasons behind their endorsement of Farouk Lawan, insisting that their area had suffered serious neglect and lack of good representation over the years.
“When Faruk Lawan was at the National Assembly, not even people of Bagwai and Shanono, the entire Nigeria citizens respected him as man of proven integrity and he commanded respect among his people, regardless of the unfortunate situation that happened to him, but he still possessed that attributes,” one of the Elders said.
The Elders and the stakeholders, commended their respected citizens for their good sense of history, adding that people like Farouk Lawan are needed in the National Assembly to make the nation proud.
“We stand firmly with Farouk Lawan as our sole Representative, and we are extremely happy that he has accepted to go back to the National Assembly, for the service for humanity,” Elder added.
The Elders, explained that, “out of respect for Governor Yusuf, we have allowed him to make the final choice, but our respected choice remains Farouk Lawan as the unanimous candidate for Bagwai and Shanono Federal Constituency and Hon. Ali Kiyawa for State House of Assembly”.
Hon Farouk Lawan, said the source, thanks the stakeholders for the confidence they have in him and promised not to disappoint them in to the development of his constituency, Kano State, and Nigeria.
