The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone One Headquarters, Kano, , has pledged the support of the Nigeria Police Force for the successful implementation of the Kano State Government’s Safe Corridor Programme aimed at addressing youth restiveness and related social challenges.

Ahmed gave the assurance on Tuesday when he received a high-powered delegation from the Safe Corridor Programme on a courtesy visit to the Zonal Headquarters in Kano.

The delegation was led by the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs and Coordinator of the programme, , and included traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
Speaking during the visit, Waiya described the Safe Corridor Programme as a special intervention initiative of the Kano State Government designed to tackle youth restiveness, political thuggery and other social vices through non-kinetic measures.

He commended the AIG for his effective coordination of police operations in Kano and Jigawa states and appreciated the continued cooperation between the police and the state government.

The commissioner stressed that the success of the programme would depend largely on collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and other critical stakeholders.

He therefore appealed for sustained support and partnership from the Zone One Headquarters to achieve the objectives of the initiative.

Responding, Ahmed expressed delight at receiving the delegation and commended the Kano State Government for introducing a programme that complements security efforts through preventive measures and community engagement.

He noted that Kano, as a major commercial centre, occupies a strategic position whose peace and stability have far-reaching benefits beyond the state.

The AIG expressed optimism that the programme would significantly contribute to addressing youth restiveness and curbing political violence, popularly known as “Daba,” in the state.

He assured the delegation of the Zone’s maximum cooperation and support in line with the mandate of the Nigeria Police Force to promote peace, security and public safety.
