In a renewed effort to deepen democratic participation and strengthen grassroots political engagement, the wife of the Jigawa State Governor, Ambassador Dr. Hajiya Amina Umar A. Namadi, has intensified advocacy for voter registration and support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at a large community gathering in Dundubus Ward, Dutse Local Government Area, she urged residents, particularly members of the Fulani community, to embrace the democratic process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The event, which attracted a large crowd of men, women and youths from across the ward, served as a platform for political awareness and civic education. Addressing the gathering, Ambassasor Dr Amina Namadi stressed that the voter card is more than a simple identification document. According to her, it is a powerful democratic tool that gives citizens the right and responsibility to determine who governs them and influences the direction of development in their communities.

She noted that meaningful participation in elections begins with voter registration, emphasizing that citizens who fail to obtain voter cards risk being excluded from decisions that affect their lives. She encouraged residents to see the PVC as a means of ensuring accountability, good governance and representation.

Her remarks reflected growing efforts by political leaders and stakeholders to boost voter participation ahead of future electoral activities.

The governor’s wife also used the occasion to highlight what she described as the achievements of the APC at various levels of government. She cited developmental projects and social intervention programmes that, according to her, have improved the lives of many Nigerians and contributed to economic and social progress. She called on residents to continue supporting the party, arguing that sustained backing would help consolidate ongoing development initiatives and promote peace and stability.

Mrs. Namadi further urged voters to support APC candidates “from top to bottom” in future elections, saying such a move would guarantee policy continuity and accelerate development across Jigawa State. She maintained that unity, active political participation and support for leaders committed to public service are essential ingredients for building a prosperous future. The gathering underscored the increasing role of political mobilization at the grassroots level as leaders seek to encourage civic engagement and strengthen democratic institutions in Nigeria.
