Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Gombe State, has denied reports circulating on social media suggesting that he supports former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Gwamna described the claim as baseless and an attempt by some individuals to tarnish his reputation and undermine his growing support among the people.
He said those behind the circulation of the video would not succeed in their alleged attempt to damage his political standing and public image.
The APC candidate said he and his supporters remained committed to the party and would work for the success of the APC from the presidential to the state and other levels in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
Gwamna further said the people of the North-East would not forget what he described as the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in addressing security challenges and providing infrastructure and other development projects in the region.
He therefore called on his supporters and APC members to remain united and committed to the party, saying they would give their support to APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Gwamna’s position is consistent with his recent public statements in which he has called for an issue-based campaign and urged supporters to work for the success of APC candidates.
The APC had earlier confirmed Gwamna as its governorship candidate for the 2027 Gombe State election following the party’s primary process.
