Adequate Reportage on Climate Change in northern Nigeria has been described as a major tool of addressing many Socio-Economic issues in the region.
The executive director of a non Governmental organization named Surge Africa, Nasreen Al -Ameen stated this during a Media Workshop on Reporting Climate Change Organized by the NGO in Kano.
She said the workshop aimed to Acquaint journalists on the importance of reporting Climate Change so that more journalists have an interest in reporting Climate Change.
The executive director noted that Climate change is a huge phenomenon that intercepts with a lot of socioeconomic issues, such as Migration, Climate Security, and food security among others, stressing that there is a need for diligent reporting on those issues.
Speaking during a presentation An editor with human Angle media Abuja Mr. Adejimo Kabir said reporting Climate Change was a great aspect of uplifting the well-being of the public.
He noted that reporting Climate Change would have a positive impact in informing those in authority and the general populace necessary measures needed to be implored in addressing the menace of Climate Change.
Some of the journalists that attended the training described it as educative and timely.
