A non-governmental organisation, the Centre for Information Technology and Development CITAD has called on the Nigerian Centre for Diseases Control NCDC.to deploy an active mechanism to contain the spread of the Monkeypox virus across the federation.
A member of the organisation, Hamza Ibrahim dropped the hints during the press conference, on Friday at the agency’s corporate office in Kano.
Hamza said recently, that the Monkeypox viruses have been detected in some West and Central African countries, igniting an emergency crisis in public. health.
Adding that the health authorities have been up and doing in those countries trying to contain the spreads of the viruses.
According to him, so far no death has been yet recorded as measures are been put in place to stop the new surge.

The States are Adamawa with 5 cases, Lagos 4, Bayelsa 2, Delta 2, Cross river 2, FCT 2 Kano 2, Imo 2 and Rivers 1.

Hamza stressed that in doing so, CITAD recommends that NCDC review its National Monkeypox Public Response Guidelines of 2019 to reflect the deepening synergies with the state government in responding to the suspected cases for proper detection and reporting and communication for quick actions.
The CITAD calls on the federal government to develop and deploy relevant protocols across the lands, seas and air borders to contain the viruses.
