The Kano State Government has approved over ₦3 billion for the expansion and rehabilitation of road networks around Singa Market as part of efforts to improve access and boost commercial activities in the area.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf disclosed this during a visit to Singa Market to sympathise with traders whose shops were recently destroyed by a fire outbreak.

The Governor expressed concern over the losses recorded and assured the victims of the state government’s support.

Governor Yusuf directed the immediate expansion and rehabilitation of roads within and around the market to ease movement of goods and people. He said the project, valued at about ₦3 billion, would cover key access roads close to the market.

The Governor also announced a ₦100 million relief package for traders affected by the fire disaster, describing it as a gesture to cushion the impact of the losses suffered. He further pledged to solarise the market as part of plans to modernise major markets across the state.

Governor Yusuf ordered contractors handling the road projects to mobilise to site and commence work within ten days, reiterating his administration’s commitment to urban renewal and economic growth.

Leaders and elders of the market thanked the Governor for the visit and the interventions, describing them as timely and compassionate. They commended the state government for its continued support to traders and infrastructure development within the market.
