A political advocacy group, the Abba Gida-Gida 2027 Intellectual Forum, has called on Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, to appoint the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, as the new Deputy Governor following the resignation of Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

In a press release dated May 6, 2026, and signed by its Director General, Alhaji Abba Garo, and Secretary, Hon. Isary Kaza Gabasawa, the forum said it had carefully reviewed the current political situation in the state and resolved to formally recommend Falgore for the vacant position.

The group described the Speaker as a competent and reliable leader capable of complementing the governor’s administration.

The forum outlined several reasons for its endorsement, highlighting Falgore’s reputation for integrity and what it described as a “zero tolerance” stance on corruption, noting that no allegations of misconduct have been associated with him.

According to the group, his leadership of the House of Assembly has been marked by effective coordination and alignment with the policies and programmes of the Yusuf administration.

It further commended Falgore’s legislative performance, stating that under his leadership, the Assembly has ensured the timely passage of key laws and has consistently supported executive initiatives aimed at fulfilling campaign promises. The forum expressed confidence that, if appointed, he would bring renewed commitment to the government’s development agenda.

The group also pointed to Falgore’s political experience and grassroots appeal, noting his involvement in youth mobilization efforts during the electioneering period. It traced his political trajectory from a former councillor to a lawmaker representing Rogo Local Government Area, culminating in his current position as Speaker.

In addition, the forum argued that appointing Falgore would help address perceived political imbalance in the state, emphasizing that Kano South Senatorial District has not produced a governor or deputy governor since 1999.

It added that his recognition as a youth leader positions him to effectively represent the interests of younger demographics.

While appealing to the governor to consider and approve the recommendation, the forum maintained that Falgore remains the most suitable candidate to support the administration’s objectives and sustain governance continuity in Kano State.
