The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State following his successful screening.
The confirmation was announced during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore, after the House considered and adopted the report of its ad hoc committee on the nomination.
Presenting the report, Chairman of the committee and Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello, said the nomination of Garo followed the resignation of the former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.
He explained that the screening exercise was conducted in line with Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), which empowers the Assembly to approve a nominee in the event of a vacancy.
According to the committee, the nominee underwent a comprehensive screening, including an extensive question-and-answer session on his educational background, professional experience, understanding of governance, and vision for the state, while his credentials were duly verified before the House confirmed his appointment.
