The Kano State Police Command has recovered two stolen vehicles in separate intelligence-led operations carried out in Tarauni and Kumbotso Local Government Areas of the state.

The public relations officer of the Command CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiayawa disclosed this to newsmen in Kano.

He said the recoveries were in line with directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on intelligence-driven and visibility policing.

In the first case, a Toyota Corolla LE, 2004 model, stolen on April 22, 2026, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Wuse, Abuja, was recovered by operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS). The vehicle was traced to Darmarawa Lay-out, Naibawa, in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano following credible intelligence.

Kiyawa  said preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was parked at the location by a suspected car theft syndicate member who is currently at large, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect.

In a similar operation, detectives attached to the Sharada Police Division recovered an unregistered foreign-used Kia Optima stolen on April 24, 2026, at Khalifa Isyaka Rabiu Friday Mosque along BUK Road. The vehicle, belonging to one Musbahu Baba Muhammad, was found at Ja’en Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area.

The recovery, according to the Command, was made possible through intelligence-led investigation and collaboration with members of the Zone 5 Ja’en Vigilante Group.
