The Kano State Police Command has intensified security operations across the state, expanding intelligence gathering and community policing efforts to combat violent crimes.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, said the command has commenced statewide sensitization and strengthened operational and strategic engagements aimed at enhancing safety and security.

According to the command, the move follows directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to dominate public spaces against criminal threats. This has led to high-level meetings and joint operations with other security agencies to boost inter-agency collaboration and coordination.

The command also conducted community engagements in both metropolitan and rural areas to promote sustainable community policing initiatives. Stakeholder meetings were held with traditional rulers, community leaders, and security actors in border local government areas to address cross-border security challenges and raise awareness on early warning signs and emergency response measures.

In addition, the police said intelligence-gathering mechanisms have been expanded, while proactive surveillance strategies have been activated in identified hotspots across the state.

The command appreciated residents for their continued support and cooperation, urging them to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through designated emergency lines or the “NPF Rescue Me” application.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that Kano State remains safe for all residents.
