The Kano State House of Assembly witnessed a large turnout of political stakeholders during the screening of Murtala Sule Garo as nominee for the position of Deputy Governor, reflecting growing support across party structures and political groups.

The screening exercise, a constitutional requirement, drew prominent figures from across the state and beyond, signaling what observers described as broad acceptance of the nominee and a strategic political alignment within the ruling structure.

Many of the stakeholders reportedly travelled from Abuja and other parts of the country to witness the exercise, underscoring the significance attached to the nomination following the vacancy declared in March 2026.

Among those present were key members of the National Assembly and political leaders including Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, Kawu Sumaila, and Alhassan Ado Doguwa, alongside other former and serving public office holders.

Also in attendance were members of the party’s elders’ forum, including former Speakers and Deputy Speakers of the State Assembly, whose presence was seen as a sign of continuity and endorsement from experienced political actors.

The gathering further featured former commissioners, special advisers, and local government leaders from across the 44 local government areas of Kano, indicating widespread grassroots support for the nominee.
Party executives, women groups, and youth supporters were also present in large numbers, contributing to the orderly conduct and vibrant atmosphere at the Assembly complex.
Observers noted that the scale of participation marked one of the most significant screening exercises in the state’s recent political history, highlighting unity among stakeholders as the state moves towards filling the vacant deputy governorship position.
