Matawalle Receives Immigration Service Award, Strengthens Hajj Preparations

The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, has received an Award of Commendation from the Nigerian Immigration Service, Malam Aminu Kano International Airport Command.

Responding to the award, Matawalle expressed appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Immigration Service to ensure smooth and successful Hajj operations.

Earlier, the Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport Command, Mr. Issa Adebayo Olaniyan, said the visit was aimed at enhancing coordination ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.

 

He noted that the award was in recognition of the Director General’s effective planning and preparations for the pilgrimage.

 

SEMA Visits, Offers Support for Hajj Exercise
In a related development, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), led by its Executive Secretary, Alhaji Isyaku Abdullahi Kubarachi, paid a courtesy visit to the board.

 

The delegation identified key areas where the agency would support the success of the Hajj operations.

 

Matawalle assured the agency of its inclusion and said a SEMA representative would be appointed to the Joint Hajj Security Committee to strengthen safety coordination.

 

Representatives of Max Air, led by Mr. Oumo Remos, also met with the board to discuss airlift schedules and timelines.
They advised intending pilgrims to comply with luggage regulations and avoid exceeding approved limits.

Matawalle stressed that the board would not tolerate unnecessary delays from air carriers during the exercise.

He prayed for the safety and successful pilgrimage of all intending pilgrims from the state.
