The Kano State Police Command has vowed to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that minors are not abused or exploited in the promotion of traditional medicine through advertisements.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this while speaking to journalists in Kano.
He said the Command received a complaint over a viral video circulating on social media in which minors were allegedly used in a traditional medicine advertisement, employing vulgar language without the consent of their parents.
According to him, such acts are contrary to the moral and cultural values of the people of Kano State, stressing that the Command will not tolerate any practice that undermines societal norms.
CSP Kiyawa further explained that following a thorough investigation, those responsible for the illegal advertorial have been arrested and will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He called on residents to remain vigilant and report any activities capable of tarnishing the image of the state, assuring that the police will take decisive action to curb such practices.
Kiyawa urged the general public to redouble their efforts in according the security agencies all the needed support with a view to achieving the stated goals.
