Radio France International Hausa will on Saturday hold two major programmes in Kano as part of efforts to strengthen its engagement with its audience and partners.

The event, tagged “Grand RFI Hausa Kano Festival 2026,” will feature activities designed to connect with listeners and celebrate the Kannywood film industry.

One of the programmes, scheduled to take place at the Afficent Centre on Sultan Road, Kano, is “Rayuwata,” which will focus on issues affecting women and children.

The second event will centre on the celebration of Kannywood as part of efforts to reinforce the long-standing relationship between the industry and the organisation.

Director of RFI Hausa, Joseph Penny, who spoke at the Kano NUJ Press Centre on Friday, said the festival was aimed at deepening the station’s relationship with Kano, which he described as its largest audience base.

He explained that the “Rayuwata” segment would provide an opportunity for audience interaction with correspondents who produced video reports on the lives of women, noting that the videos would be screened and discussed during the session.

Penny added that the correspondents would also share their experiences, production processes, and perspectives on the stories featured in the reports.

He noted that the videos cover diverse and engaging topics capable of stimulating meaningful conversations among participants.

The director further disclosed that the event would conclude with a dinner to celebrate the achievements of Kannywood and encourage the growth of the industry.

According to him, RFI Hausa has been covering Kannywood for over 17 years and intends to use the occasion to appreciate and support the industry.
