Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has submitted his nomination form to the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja as the sole candidate for Kano State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on May 6, 2026.

According to the statement, the governor was accompanied to the submission by prominent political figures, including Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senator Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives, and other dignitaries from Kano State.

Speaking with journalists shortly after submitting the form, Governor Yusuf described his bid for a second term as a renewed call to service and commitment to the people of Kano State.

He said his administration would expand urban renewal projects, with increased focus on road construction, drainage systems, and market modernisation, while also prioritising rural development through investments in feeder roads, water supply, healthcare centres, and schools.

The governor further pledged stronger support for agriculture and youth empowerment programmes, noting that job creation and youth development would remain central to his administration’s agenda, while reaffirming his commitment to improving education, healthcare, and inclusive governance across the state.
