The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Umar Sani, announced the result on Sunday, saying that Shuaibu secured 35,356 votes to emerge victorious in the poll conducted on Saturday.
According to Sani, the APC candidate defeated Lawal Garba-Haruna of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), who polled 268 votes, and Abubakar Yahaya-Muhammad of the Labour Party (LP), who scored 98 votes.

The by-election was held to fill the vacancy in the House of Representatives created by the death of the former lawmaker representing the constituency, Muhammad Danjuma-Hassan of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
