IGP urges Kano police to adopt intelligence-led, technology-driven policing

The Inspector-General of Police Mr Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has called on officers and Men of the Kano State Command to embrace intelligence-led and technology-driven policing strategies to effectively address evolving security challenges.

Mr Olatunji Rilwan Disu stated this while briefing officers and Men of the Kano Command of the Nigeria Police.

 

Represented by DIG Suleiman Mohammed Abdul emphasised that security remains critical to sustaining the state’s position as the commercial centre of Northern Nigeria.

He commended the command for its recent achievements and highlighted key priorities, including intelligence-led operations, accountability, community policing and personnel welfare.

IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu encouraged officers to leverage technology and intelligence-gathering tools to identify crime hotspots and combat offences such as Yan Daba activities, cybercrime and the use of unregistered vehicle number plates, while upholding professionalism and respecting human rights.

The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Mr Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, stated that the command had achieved notable successes in tackling crimes such as phone snatching and thuggery through enhanced intelligence efforts and strengthened collaboration with other security agencies.
