The Kano State Government has approved the construction of multi-agency security plazas and the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at the newly constructed Dan’Agundi and Tal’udu flyovers to enhance security and safeguard critical infrastructure.
The Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Marwan Ahmed Aminu, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kano
Aminu said the initiative reflected the commitment of Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to complement ongoing infrastructure development with effective security measures aimed at protecting lives and property.
He explained that the security plazas would be constructed immediately after the completion of the two flyover projects to ensure adequate protection of the facilities and provide a secure environment for commuters.
According to the commissioner, the plazas will serve as operational centres where personnel from various security agencies will work under a unified framework to strengthen coordination and improve emergency response.
He said the facilities would accommodate officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), the Hisbah Board, vigilante groups, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and other relevant security organisations.
Aminu added that CCTV surveillance cameras would be installed at the Dan’Agundi Flyover to provide round-the-clock monitoring of activities around the facility.
