The Kebbi State Police Command says it has arrested seven suspected terrorists during ongoing intelligence-led operations targeted at dismantling criminal networks operating within the Soda Forest axis and adjoining border communities in Bagudo Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said in a statement on Saturday that the arrests were made on June 5, 2026, as operatives intensified efforts to disrupt the logistics and activities of suspected terrorists, bandits and other violent criminal groups in the area.
He explained that acting on credible intelligence, Mobile Police operatives along the Illo–Lolo Road intercepted three suspects travelling on a Haojue motorcycle from the Soda Forest area towards border communities. The suspects were identified as Muhammadu Bande, Aliyu Abubakar and Muhammadu Aliyu.
According to him, preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly en route to procure food supplies for criminal elements operating in forest hideouts, adding that the motorcycle used in the operation was recovered by the police.
SP Usman further disclosed that in a separate operation along the Bakin Ruwa–Ka’oje axis, four additional suspects — Haruna Abubakar, Abubakar Lawali, Anme Shehu and Yahaya Shehu — were also arrested as security operatives sustained pressure on criminal groups operating in the area.
He said the suspects were in custody while investigations were ongoing to determine the full extent of their involvement and possible links to recent security incidents, including an attack that reportedly claimed the lives of three Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel.
The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Umar M. Hadejia, as describing the arrests as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes in the state.
He commended the operatives for their professionalism and resilience, while also appreciating members of the public for providing credible intelligence that aided the success of the operations.
The Commissioner assured residents of the Command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring lasting peace in affected communities, urging continued public cooperation with security agencies.
