Bandits Abduct Kebbi High Court Judge

Suspected bandits have abducted a Judge of the Kebbi State High Court, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred around midnight on Sunday at the judge’s residence along Zogirma Road in Bunza, shortly after he returned from a trip to Sokoto State, according to reports.

The gunmen reportedly fired sporadically during the operation before whisking the judge away. No other member of the household was reported injured in the attack.

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the abduction, with its Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, saying tactical and intelligence operatives had been deployed to secure the judge’s safe release.

Usman said the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammad Hadejia, directed the operatives to comb identified locations, including forest areas, in an effort to locate and rescue the judge alive and unharmed.

A senior official of the Kebbi State High Court, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the incident as disturbing, saying the court management had met with security agencies to coordinate efforts toward securing the judge’s immediate release.

As of the time of filing this report, no individual or group had claimed responsibility for the abduction, while security agencies continued their search and rescue operation.
