The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that members of the party in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State remain united and fully loyal to the party leadership in the state.
The party also refuted claims that none of its members in Kumbotso had defected to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting that the allegation lacks credible evidence.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the APC State Publicity Secretary Auwalu Soja, the party described the purported defection of its members as a desperate attempt by the Kwankwasiyya movement to distract attention from what it called its “sinking ship.”
Reacting to the claim, Soja said the APC boasts all major political stakeholders and critical actors in Kumbotso, stressing that the identities of the alleged defectors are unknown to the party in the local government.
The APC spokesperson further stated that party stakeholders and loyalists in Kumbotso are satisfied with the infrastructural projects being executed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, including the AKK gas pipeline and the Kaduna–Kano–Maradi standard gauge railway, both of which pass through parts of the local government.
According to Soja, the leadership and hundreds of APC members in the area also appreciate Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for attracting major investment opportunities to Kumbotso aimed at accelerating economic growth and creating employment opportunities for the teeming youth.
The publicity secretary however, urged the association to focus on resolving its internal crisis and leadership chaos, rather than engaging in what he described as baseless propaganda that would ultimately prove futile.
Soja added that the average Kano voter can no longer entrust their future to what he called the political gimmicks and selfish interests of the Kwankwasiyya movement, arguing that the NDC was created primarily to serve the narrow interests of its leaders.
The ruling party therefore urged residents to disregard the claims circulating on social media about the alleged defections, maintaining that the APC remains strong, united, and firmly rooted in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
