Among those who attended the memorial event were former First Lady Aisha Buhari and former Head of State, retired Gen. Yakubu Gowon, who joined other dignitaries in paying tribute to the late Nigerian leader.
The gathering attracted prominent personalities from across the country, reflecting Buhari’s enduring influence on Nigeria’s political landscape and the respect he continued to command among colleagues, supporters and the wider public.
The memorial was organised to celebrate the life, legacy and contributions of the former president to national development and public service, one year after his death.
Speakers at the event recalled Buhari’s years of service to the nation and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul, while urging Nigerians to uphold the values of patriotism, integrity and commitment to national unity, which they said characterised his public life.
The event concluded with special prayers and tributes in honour of the late former president, as family members, friends and associates reflected on his leadership and contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development.
