Gov. Yusuf Disburses N55.8m Grants to 1,116 Young Entrepreneurs in Kano

Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has disbursed N55.8 million to 1,116 young entrepreneurs in Kano metropolis as part of efforts to promote youth entrepreneurship, reduce unemployment and improve livelihoods.

Speaking during the distribution of the grants at the Government House, Kano, Yusuf said each beneficiary received N50,000 under the state government’s youth empowerment programme to support the expansion of their businesses. The beneficiaries include petty traders, shoe repairers and other small-scale business owners operating across the metropolis.

The governor said the initiative was in fulfilment of one of his administration’s campaign promises to empower youths through economic opportunities that encourage self-reliance and reduce idleness. He reaffirmed his commitment to implementing programmes aimed at improving the welfare and economic prospects of residents.

Yusuf commended the beneficiaries for engaging in legitimate businesses despite the prevailing economic challenges, describing them as hardworking and resilient.

He assured them that his administration would continue to support small-scale enterprises through targeted interventions designed to stimulate economic growth and create more opportunities for young people.

He also expressed appreciation to the youths of the state for their continued support and confidence in his administration, noting that such encouragement had strengthened the government’s resolve to sustain people-centred policies and programmes.

The governor added that more empowerment initiatives would be rolled out to expand access to economic opportunities across the state.
