Kano Pilgrims Board Fixes N8m Initial Deposit for 2027 Hajj, Opens Registration

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced an initial deposit of N8 million for intending pilgrims seeking to perform the 2027 Hajj, with registration officially commencing on Sunday.

The Director-General of the board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, disclosed this at a news conference held at the board’s headquarters in Kano, saying the amount was arrived at after wide consultations and careful consideration.

Matawalle said all payments would be made through bank drafts and submitted to Hajj Centre Officers in the 44 local government areas of the state to ensure a transparent and orderly registration process.

He advised prospective pilgrims to adhere strictly to the procedures approved by the Kano State Government and avoid dealing with unauthorised individuals or agents.

According to him, the sale of Hajj seats and payment of the initial deposit commenced on July 12 and will close on Sept. 26, 2026, urging intending pilgrims to complete their registration early to enable the board make adequate preparations for a successful pilgrimage.

The director-general reaffirmed the board’s commitment to providing efficient, transparent and quality services to ensure that pilgrims perform the religious obligation in comfort, safety and dignity.

Matawalle also expressed appreciation to Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf for his continued support to the board, as well as religious leaders and other stakeholders for their cooperation.

He prayed for Allah to grant all intending pilgrims the opportunity to perform an accepted Hajj and return home safely.
