The Executive Chairman of the Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS), Dr. Zaid Abubakar, has formally handed over the leadership of the agency following the expiration of his tenure in office.
The handover ceremony, held on Thursday at the KIRS headquarters in Kano, saw the Senior Executive Director, Compliance and Enforcement Group, Malam Muhammad Abba Aliyu, assume the administration of the Service in an acting capacity pending further government directives.
Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Abubakar expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government, the management and staff of the Service for their support throughout his tenure.
He urged them to remain committed to professionalism, teamwork and the shared vision of strengthening revenue administration in the state.
He said the progress recorded by the agency was made possible through collective efforts and encouraged the workforce to sustain ongoing reforms aimed at improving internally generated revenue for the benefit of the people of Kano State.
Responding, Malam Muhammad Abba Aliyu thanked the management for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to ensure continuity in the administration of the Service.
He assured staff of his commitment to consolidating existing reforms, promoting institutional stability and enhancing operational efficiency.
The ceremony marked a smooth transition of leadership and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to good governance, continuity and improved tax administration in support of Kano State’s development agenda.
