As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum, Her Excellency Amb. Dr. Amina Umar Namadi is strengthening engagement with women across Jigawa State in what appears to be a strategic move to consolidate grassroots support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dr. Amina Namadi on Friday held separate meetings with two influential women-focused groups drawn from the 27 Local Government Areas of the state, underscoring the growing importance of women in the state’s political mobilisation ahead of the elections.

The first engagement was with the Association of Female Supervisory Councillors and Advisers from the 27 Local Government Areas, while the second involved the Gender Association, popularly known as the Association for the Protection of the Rights of Women and Children.

The meetings provided the First Lady with an opportunity to interact with women representatives from across the state and strengthen a network that cuts across local government areas.
Women at the Heart of APC Mobilisation
With women representing a significant segment of the electorate, political parties are increasingly recognising their influence in determining electoral outcomes.

For the APC in Jigawa, sustained engagement with women at the grassroots could provide a critical platform for strengthening party structures, communicating government policies and mobilising voters ahead of the 2027 polls.
The participation of female supervisory councillors and advisers is particularly significant, given their direct links with communities and local government structures.
Through such networks, political messages and government programmes can reach households and communities at the grassroots, while concerns from residents can equally be channelled back to policymakers.
The involvement of the Gender Association adds another dimension, particularly through its focus on women and children and issues affecting their welfare and rights.

From Engagement to Political Strength
Dr. Amina Namadi’s approach highlights the importance of building political relationships before the commencement of full-scale election campaigns.
Regular engagement with women’s organisations provides an avenue for listening to their concerns, encouraging political participation and strengthening their confidence in the political process.
It could also help the APC develop a more coordinated women-focused mobilisation strategy across Jigawa’s 27 local government areas.
For the governing party, the effectiveness of such mobilisation will depend not only on political messaging but also on its ability to sustain engagement and respond to issues affecting women, children, families and communities.
The 2027 Challenge
As the 2027 elections approach, Jigawa is expected to witness increased political activities as political parties position themselves for the contest.
Women will be central to this process — as voters, grassroots mobilisers, political office holders, community organisers and advocates.
The meetings therefore represent more than routine consultations.
They provide a platform for building relationships, strengthening grassroots networks and potentially positioning women as a major force in the APC’s electoral strategy.
For Dr. Amina Namadi, the task ahead is to maintain the momentum and translate the growing network of women into sustained political participation and support for the APC.
A Grassroots Strategy in Motion
The engagement with women from all 27 local government areas signals a deliberate attempt to bring political mobilisation closer to the grassroots.
If sustained, the strategy could strengthen communication between the government, the APC and women across Jigawa while providing a structured platform for women to participate actively in determining the political direction of the state.
As the countdown to 2027 continues, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: the political battle in Jigawa will not be fought only at rallies and party offices — it will also be won or lost in communities, households and grassroots networks where women wield considerable influence.
And that is where Dr. Amina Umar A. Namadi appears determined to build the APC’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
